PROVIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Safe and affordable housing is a basic human right. As Assemblymember, Anamarie will work to close the housing affordability gap by developing a comprehensive strategy that includes expanding rental assistance, increasing permanent housing for those experiencing homelessness, developing new units for low- and moderate-income households, and creating homeownership programs for families who need down payment assistance.
SUPPORT WORKING FAMILIES
Working families have faced stagnating wages and rising costs of living — providing them no real traction to get ahead. The income and wage gap continues to widen, and the American Dream is further out of reach, especially for the next generation. Anamarie’s track record proves that she will provide the strong leadership we need to relieve the pressure on working families.
ALL SAFE: TRANSFORM PUBLIC SAFETY
All communities deserve to feel safe. Restructuring the systems of public safety to ensure communities’ safety and well-being will be one of Anamarie’s top priorities in the State Assembly. We must recruit well-trained public safety personnel who are committed to serving and protecting their communities and hold unfit officers and accountable for their actions by from their positions when they violate the Code of Conduct. Anamarie will champion the creation of concrete policies proposals for the transformation and implementation of public safety programs.
INVEST IN EDUCATION
We need to recruit, prepare and retain a diverse and well-supported teaching force in all school districts. We must acknowledge and address overcrowding in schools and make funding schools a priority while investing fully and equitably in students. It is imperative that we create and implement programs to stop the school-to-prison pipeline.
HEALTHCARE
Our healthcare system focuses more on disease than preventive care and is in urgent need of reform, especially to bring down costs for working families. As Assemblymember, AnaMarie will be focused on restoring a preserving the overall health of our community. Health care treatment only accounts for 10% of our overall health: food security, education, employment, housing, and the environment have a larger impact on our health and must also be addressed to sustain our community’s overall well-being.
EXPAND BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE
Mental healthcare must be more accessible to everyone. AnaMarie believed there should be universal access to mental health services for all youth and adults, including veterans and those experiencing homelessness.
PROVIDE AFFORDABLE CHILDCARE
California ranks as one of the least affordable states in the nation based on the cost of childcare. Childcare assistance is critical to supporting working families while parents are at work or school and is vital to helping families achieve economic security.
SUPPORT HOME CARE/AGING IN PLACE
Successful home care necessitates support for homecare workers and improving access to basic needs such as food, safe housing, transportation, and resources to prevent isolation and improve health outcomes.
PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
Affordable Housing and environmental justice are inherently linked. The connection between race, income, and exposure to environmental hazards is complex and requires that equitable housing policies be promoted.
SUPPORT VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES
Significant disparities exist for vulnerable populations in healthcare, employment, housing, legal rights, and access to services. Those marginalized by ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age and socioeconomic status are often the invisible victims of discrimination, violence, social stigma, and assault.
BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE
Students with limited computer and internet access are falling behind. Our government can bridge the digital divide by enacting policies that encourage more affordable electronic devices, internet services, electricity tariffs, and taxes for those in need.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Anamarie supports policies that encourage our communities to reduce their carbon pollution and create a low carbon California. We need to invest in public transportation implement policies and accessibility policies decarbonize travel. California must lead in being a net zero greenhouse gas emission state.
